I find that the best way to get a sense of value is to look through the sold listings on ebay. Make sure you are comparing similar types and condition.

The wonderful thing about old Stanley planes is that they made so many of them and they are therefore, pretty inexpensive. Unless you have something unusual, expect maybe $35 at most for a no 4 or 5.

Of course, if you have a couple of 444’s, now that’s different!


I find that the best way to get a sense of value is to look through the sold listings on ebay. Make sure you are comparing similar types and condition.

What are they? They all (with few exceptions) have numbers in the casting.
