Tool purchase - router or miter saw?

Get the router. It adds capability you don’t currently have, and can do things that most tools can’t do. Plus, if you ever get a decent table saw, it’ll have potential for better accuracy than a miter saw.

Router. You have a miter saw. In my opinion, they’re for breaking down stock and not necessarily for making accurate cuts, though they can be tuned a bit to make “mostly accurate” cuts, especially used with a jig/backup fence. But as knotscott said, a sled will do a better job and you don’t have a router which will add tremendously to your repertoire of capabilities.

Router, miter saws are for construction (IMHO).

Lol, already did. Between the Dewalt dwp611pk and Bosch 1617EVSPK the consensus was the Dewalt dw618pk.
