Depends on drawer fronts and doors …........but generally in our custom cabinet shop ….......... we generally used
1 1/2 inches BUT …could be any where from 1 1/4 to 2 inches ….GOOD LUCK :<))

When it is a typical face frame, I use 1-1/2” wide rails and stiles.

For door stiles that will receive cup hinges I prefer 1-3/4” or 2” wide.

Equipment come in standard size increments, The “U” – 1-3/4” per U with a 5/8-1/2-5/8 #10-32 hole pattern. If you are going to mount “studio” gear, you need those dimensions.

Thx for y’all’s help. I appreciate it.
I’m going to go ahead and make it 1 1/2”. It doesn’t effect the component rails so that wouldn’t be an issue. I’ll post pics when I start the project.
