The Rikon motor is probably 3/4 HP, exaggerated.

I have the Jet JDP 17 got it black Fri Nov 2016 for $629 from CPO Jet sale with no tax & free ship. Great DP, love the 5” stroke & large table. Plenty power for all my woodworking needs and some metal drilling. Out the box dead on or good enough for woodworking & no run out. LED light is bright & lasers ok just got to remember it has it. Only issue had with it (really my preference) was the height. Raised it about 5” off floor with box made from 2×4 and ply. Now the height is good for me (I’m 6’ 0” tall). For the price ($629) got a 17” floor drill press with a 5” stroke and large table that’s great for woodworking. Don’t know anything about the Rikon but the Jet for the short time I had it I’m pleased with it.

I looked at both but ended up with a Shopfox W1668 for $315 new at local power tool store. Couldn’t pass the savings up and I was really impressed with the running and lack of runout. Everything fit perfectly and runs smooth as butter. I usually buy the most I can afford but heard good things about this and the price was right.
