Longer screw should work, be sure to drill a properly sized pilot hole

Agreed. Even if it did come loose, you can put some epoxy in the hole and run the screw back in.

You could just add another hinge or go with piano hinge. Actually screws in end grain plywood hold just fine.

Thank you all, my main concern was the door pulling out the screws and damaging the wood. Think I will go buy some longer matching screws
