Check out the local community colleges. Search the internet for “adult education” classes in San Diego.

We are very lucky to have Palomar College in San Marcos rated by some as one of the top three woodworking schools in the country. You have to take their 101 class to get in any others and they have evening classes as well. I’ve taken a few classes and they are terrific. I highly recommend them.

Yea I have actually been looking into Palomar and doing their Carpentry program. The only thing that sucks is that I down in San Diego and its a hour drive for me but from I hear it is worth it. Looking into to quitting my full time job and getting a part time to go there. Any other advice or tips on their program?

Heck an our drive is nothing out here, takes a haf hour to get to the grocery store. I would say it’ts totally worth it. A great program, teriffic instructors great tools and shop area and the price is the bargan of a lifetime. They also offer students really good priciing for lumber including unusual urban lumber..

Yea you’re right. I used to live in San Marcos and drive to Coronado for work every day. I get the GI bill so money isn’t even an issue. Are you just taking some classes or are you trying to get a cert?

I just take a class every so often, what ever I’m interested in a night class. Those classes have definitely amped up my skills.

How about the American School of French Marquetry? Not a beginners course but a great class …

Yes! And then you get to build/buy a cool new tool.
