Based on the previous threads on this topic and my own experience, there are a lot of answers that work. I believe mine is 8” tall with a 6” inlet & outlet ducting. However, there are those that are much taller than that.

The key is that the area within the baffle is larger than the inlet/outlet ducts to create a pressure drop in the baffle. This allows the heavier (chips & dust) to fall out of the air stream into the slot on the outer perimeter.

Search LJ there are a lot of threads and even more opinions. So far, I haven’t heard of any failures so your chances of success are good.
