Finish over wood burn

I’ve used a couple of very light coats of both rattle can shellac and rattle can lacquer successfully. Once the burning is sealed with one of these, you can use pretty much whatever you like as the finish product.

I do a fair amount of light torching on a variety of woods and go over them with usually spray poly; seems to give a good seal and then can be finished over too.
