I am doing it. I put in a Nyle L53 kiln. To date, I have dried about 60,000 BF. Figuring the value of kiln drying at say $.50/bf for discussion purposes, My $7,000 investment has paid back many time over. The L53 can dry up to 1000 BF at a time and the next size up can dry up to 4000 bf at a time depending on incoming moisture content and species.

If you want to discuss any details further, you are welcome to call me. You can find my contact info at hamsleyhardwood.com.

I have been running a Nyle for about 20 years. Don’t remember the model# but I can dry around 15 to 2000 bd ft at a time, depending on length. Been a great kiln

Are you looking for a business opportunity or you just want to process your own green wood? Factor in the energy costs as well. Do you have space to stack and sticker the wood after it’s dried? If you just want to dry wood for yourself I’d look into building a solar kiln. Slower but costs almost nothing to run other than the electricity for a fan.

Here is an industrial forum section regarding kilns and peripherals to support lumber drying.

Thanks Danny, I just might be calling on you

Thank you PVWood for the vote of confidence with Nyle

DHazzleton, I have all the requirements covered and yes I would like to sell to other woodworkers. Thanks for the reminder about energy cost. Nyle was reluctant to give me that info.

Thanks wuddoc, I’ll definitely look that up.
