1) The closest sawmill is Bonesteel in Sellersburg, about 20 minutes away.
2) The easiest place to get rough sawn in town is Bargain Supply on Jefferson downtown. Higher than the sawmill, cheaper than Woodcraft, but a short drive.
3) I might have a board of cherry I could get you. I’ll try to look tonight.

Charles,

Thanks, brother. I’ll have to check out Bargain Supply on my way home this week (I work downtown, and didn’t know they had rough sawn lumber!). And I’ll definitely keep Bonesteel in mind for furture projects: my mom lives in Sellersburg anyhow, and they only other saw mill I knew of was in Bagdad.

Dustin, I have a 6” X 6’ piece of walnut that is milled to 1/2” thick. It is not jointed but you can do that with a router and straight edge. I’m off Dixie Hwy.

Bonesteel is my suggestion also. They will meet you anytime with 30 min notice. Reasonable prices also. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice and help on this one, folks!

I’ll be checking out Bonesteel for future needs. In the meantime, a special thanks to Charles who hooked me up with the materials; and a thank you to papadan as well, who offered his stock!

I’m taking the boards to be milled at a friend’s house today, and will be working on it this evening. I’ll post pics as it comes along!
