I have never seen a LARGE LED bulb at a big box or other type store similar to the ones they have in the shelf at Rockler.

After seeing them at Rockler I did not get one, but have them on my wish list.

Moke, I look forward to hearing more as you use yours.

This is great info. Thanks, Mike. I recently replaced one of the 4’ fluorescent fixtures in my shop with a 4’ 3400 (I think) lumen LED and it seems to put out considerably more light than its predecessor, so I can imagine that a 4750 lumen unit is pretty intense. I will replace them as they die (they are cheap, so I’ll probably be doing this 17 more times in the next couple years), so I’ll check out the ones at Rockler.

I bought the LED light tubes from Hyperion and converted my old 4” long fluorescent lights on one side of my shop. Big difference. As mine die I plan to just replace with the LED drop in bulbs. Once you have done one they can be converted in a few minutes, fairly simple with little electrical knowledge or skill needed other than turn the light / power off.

I ordered a 4 pack of the hyperion LED conversion tubes and three of them did not work…(But mine were only the 4 footers) I said then I was done with those….the cheap-o fixtures I had did not want to come apart to strip out the ballasts or allow for new tombstones either…...

mrbob….
I looked for a similar thing at the BORG and could not find them…these are big in size. I would say they are 8 to 10 inches long and 6 inches in diameter….I have never seen any anywhere but would like to get some more if you could direct to where that is…

pmayer-jimintx- this is so easy and works so well its scary!!! Nothing to fiddle with no knowledge required…just screw it in! And while I’m not a big environment guy they only take the equivalent of a 50 watts bulb for electricity.

Mark, that is a good array off products, thanks for the advice on Superbrightleds.com

I cannot find the large Rockler style, screw-in bulbs there at all.
Could you please bounce back with link or a model number or some way to find them? Thanks!

I tried the Rockler LED light with shroud, and I found it too harsh. It was like an alien interrogation light, so I moved it above the workbench. It created weird shadows and I didn’t care for the cold, blue light. Maybe they are better with many lights overlapping.

I have been using 300w CFL bulbs in a warm color temperature range, and they are pretty nice.

Good luck with your lighting setup.

Good info Thx. I need to do my shop more for the heat that all the tubes create than lighting but more lighting is always good. Especially in the summer month here in So Cal. I just always seem to spend money on other tools LOL

Hi Shawn – In post #7 of the thread, above, I was telling Mark that I looked at the lighting supply website he provided, and they did not seem to have anything like these huge bulbs offered by Rockler.

You are nice to show the link for them on the Rockler site, it’s just not what I meant.

My bad I totally misread you post. Now I see it you couldn’t find the huge bulbs on Superbrightleds.com. I completely read that thinking you couldn’t find them on rockler.

Sorry for the link my sarcasm runs a little deep sometimes
