Lacquer or poly for dog crate?

Poly is more durable, but there’s nothing nicer than spraying lacquer. Get some Deft or Minwax brushing lacquer, thin it 50% (I use 50% lacquer, 25% lacquer thinner and 25% acetone) and spray away. It levels beautifully and you can get at least 4 coats on in a single day.
