No ideas, or is my description too convoluted?

I think they make nuts to go into them ….this way you could bolt wood to it

Do you think stronger to run lags into the 2×4 (on edge), or drill and then use a bolt and but?

Also, for those who are unfamiliar with kindorf: it is a metal channel about 1.5” wide. Comes with holes pared riled and takes all kinds of fasteners in the channel for pipe, conduit, etc. not very pretty, but it is strong (and I have some scrap pieces). I was going to span between my posts with 2×6, but layer flat I do not think the 2×6 would take the load without bowing.

Use the term channel strut not the manufacturers name. Lots of people make channel strut. Using the manufacturers name confuses forum readers.

Thanks for the clarification. Now I don’t feel so dumb (well as good as I’ll ever get).

Sorry about that, I did not know it was called channel strut. Thanks for the knowledge. I did some more searching using “channel strut wood rack” and got more results – so it was helpful. Still nothing that fits my structural situation, but new ideas…

Have your say...
