Congrats! I think you were one of the first people on LJ to say howdy to me and offer encouragement. Here’s to 8 more and 8 more and …

Hi Richard
I really don’t have an Idea how many welcome greetings I’ve sent but I would guess it has been in the thousands. After a number of years, I stopped because of the large increase in members and it became more of a job than fun thing to do,now when I happen to notice someone is new in a post I welcome them to Ljs and hope others will do the same.Thank you for the positive thoughts.

I suggest all of you find a new forum not rum by the corporation that runs this one. They had a 45 million record data breach a month or so ago and other then a carefully worded email that attempts to downplay the serious breach, they have done everything they can to hide the fact, including removing posts from this site.

This sill likely get removed also… though at this point I am angry enough to take a few screen crabs and go public with the information on other forums. If you think these clowns care about your security, think again.

Good Deal Jim! You were one of the first to welcome me to LJs 5.6 years ago. Its a pleasure to have what I call a gentleman in the bunch. Like some others, I do not post everything either. But I do listen to what’s said and how you guys do what you do. Sometimes I pick your brain before I undertake a project to get ideas that will work for me based on the tools I have. Thanks for your knowledge and willingness to share. Keep on keepin on.

Jim, you welcomed me when I joined and that made me feel as part of the group. Congrats on your stretch and stay with us a lot longer. Still here in Downers Grove almost 28 years now.

LumberJocks was NOT part of the breach. All sites that were part of it were notified very quickly on the individual sites involved, passwords were reset, and emails were sent. Again, this did not involve LumberJocks.com or I would have notified the members immediately.

If you had a question, you certainly could have contacted me. Derailing a thread celebrating Jim’s 8 years in this community wasn’t the place to do it.

Cricket – Don, et al.

I am glad to hear that this particular forum was no part of the breach and I am sorry for doing this HERE in this thread, but the point was to get noticed.

This forum is full of wonderful folks and I have spent many years browsing here. My disposition toward VerticalScope has nothing to do with the fine members here.

That said, this forum is owned by VerticalScope. I would have expected that there be a very clear public sticky indicating that this particular forum was not in any way part of the data breach. Alas, there was not and the thread similar to the one I posted was not clarified with that information either. Instead, it was wholesale deleted in an apparent effort tamp down the reality and/or backlash. I am sure that nobody on your end wants folks on our end to understand how serious this was, and the actions here and at other VS forums have made that patently clear. That what angers me more than anything.

So no Cricket, this was not the ideal place, but it is the only place it would have been noticed.

Don, again: Congrats! Sorry for the side show.

Congrats Jim – I have been here over 5 and have had some good chats with you. Watched a lot of folks come and go. Some seriously talented folks out there – I am sure you have seen quite a few more than I have.
