The plane is a Marsh,

Marsh H.C. Marsh Tool Co. of Rockford Ill. 1915-1924.

I doubt the lakeside iron is original.

Is the thin sole of any concern?

I’ve never tuned a Marsh, or at least not one like that one, but from what I’ve heard they are a decent plane.

I’ve seen them, but just never bought them.

Because it’s a #4 and I don’t have one, if you’re interested in making a trade for a better known brand let me know. I wouldn’t mind having it in my collection, but I suppose if I were you I’d just tune it and use it.

Thank you for the offer. I have taken it apart already and I am half way toward tuning/refinishing it. If you are in the phoenix area and would like to try it out once finished, then let me know.

Have your say...
