It’s some kinda of mount or keeper for a chain.I don’t know what’s it’s called and I don’t remember where I’ve seen one.

might be either to mount an anvil onto the stump/base..or

top or bottom half of a mold. placed on top of a mold and weights added to keep things in place during the pour.

Pretty funny. If you drag and drop that image into the google image search it says “best guess: metal” and then lists wiki links for rock metal bands.

It looks like something from a ship, probably something to do w/ the anchor chain, like Aj2 mentioned.

Not a clue. But I bet it could be real handy for something. anchor for your boat, a weight for gluing laminates and such? Life preserver for your favorite inlaw.

Before patio umbrella bases became all fancy-schmancy, they used to be simple cheap plastic cover with a heavy chunk of steel under it for ballast. I bet that’s what this was.
