If you’re in the market for stationary tools, go to the Seattle CL and google the tool you’re looking for (planer, jointer, etc.). Quite often you will find an ad for a Jet or Powermatic tool at a really significant discount. I found a Jet JJP12-HH combo machine there with the Byrd Shellix cutter head (at least it looks like the Byrd) for about $1800 (compared to a list price of something like $3200).

These are brand new machines, supposedly scratch and dent. Mine didn’t have a mark on it. As of right now, they are offering a Jet 16” planer for $1095 (factory list price is $1830).

I would tell you the name of this outlet store, but they never include their name in the ad. They are located in Auburn, a few miles south of Seattle. Unfortunately, they don’t ship, though I suppose you could arrange your own shipping.

Rick, I’ve bought used saw blades before and usually they look brand new, only once did I have a problem with one that looked brand new, was advertised as so, but one tooth was broken off. It wasn’t anywhere in the package so it must have been missed upon inspection but it ended up working out fine anyway. I’m trying it again as I’ve ordered the evolution blade for $27, hopefully it’s in the shape it’s advertised as.

I just bought twenty quarter inch thick, self adhesive foam pads for my quarter sheet sanders. The price was less than a buck each.

Though the ad claims they are only around 2-1/2” square, they are actu7ally about 3-78” x 4-1/2”.

As the ad indicates, they are self adhesive. I installed one on a Porter Cable quarter sheet and it was about 1/8” too narrow. On the other hand, it fit my Makita quarter sheet sander fine, thought the sheets are just barely long enough to lock down.

I have found a new source for dust collector plastic bags that I am considering offering…

Here’s a description…

6 mil clear bags (normally you only find 4 mil)
Will fit any 19 to 20 inch DC (harbor freight, jet, Grizzly, etc.) up to 70 gallon
Puncture resistant Virgin polyethylene plastic

10 bags for around $20.00 plus shipping

Wynn environmental has 4 mil bags priced at $17 for 10 bags.

We all know how fragile the 4 mil bags are when dealing with dust collectors and how quickly they can tear or puncture. These bags are Virgin polyethylene film, not recycled, and at 6 mil, are both USDA AND FDA approved as tear and puncture resistant. I have to purchase in a very large quantity, and would never use as much as I have to buy in a lifetime, but I figured I would pass on the opportunity to everyone here as well. After packaging and processing costs, if I’m lucky I might be making around $1.00 per sale, if that!

I ended up buying one of these for an old 14” miter saw I have, it works ok but I might be playing with fire, the maximum speed rating for these blades is a relatively low 1800 rpm and my saw spins a little faster than that. The quality seems about on par with what you could expect from an Oldham blade from one of the big box store, not great, but not garbage either.

After I posted this, I noticed that I got 2 different sets of clamps. So to correct, the 4-piece set is 2X 12”+ 2X 7” and the 2-piece set is 2X 18”. Both sets are same price. I used the 12” ones yesterday and I have to say they seem to have clamping force equivalent to my Irwins but the “trigger” feels like it’s going to break eventually and they are harder to release. Still at $5, if they last 6 months, I will have more than gotten my money’s worth. They are FAR superior to the ones at Harbor Freight.

Along the same lines, I was at Lowe’s this morning and noticed they have the 12 inch Irwins 50% off.
