I see that it says “Editor’s Choice,” and I didn’t get an email, so it sounds legit to me.

I just checked the projects under “Editor’s Choice” and yours was in there, looks nice. Seems you aren’t being punked.

It looks pretty good to me. Wedged tenons look great and the design has a great flow to it. I think you are being to critical of yourself.

I think maybe you’re punking us. It’s a great looking project, very deserving of the honorable mention.

It’s for Real My Man! Also TOTALLY Deserving of the Editors Choice.

How is that done? SHUUUU! It’s a Secret ...LOL…

Actually I just read some where that it’s Cricket Walker, Escalate Community Manager that now makes that Selection.

She commented on your Table and said that She Loved It!

So! That’s how you got to be the “Chosen One”.

Her Home Page is Here: http://lumberjocks.com/CricketWalker

Let’s try that LINK thing that never works for me also.

So! Rest Easy Nicholas!

Regards: Rick

Editor? No disrespect, but do you know what an editor does? I know you’re going to say yes, so could you tell us?

Wow. Now I feel like a total idiot. I thought for sure someone was messing with me.

Thank you so much Cricket. I’m absolutely thrilled for the thumbs up. I emailed my father-in-law tonight and it made his year. It made my year too; I’m really thrilled that someone enjoyed our little project enough to give it such a lovely affirmation. My daughter loves that table and she really got a big kick out of seeing it on the internet. We let her have dinner at her little table tonight to celebrate!

Perhaps most important of all, my wife was actually very pleased too, and I think it’s going to be easier for me to justify shop time in the basement! That’s about the best reward any woodworker can get :)

Thanks a ton Cricket, and I really apologize if my post seemed ungrateful. I thought for sure I someone was playing a joke on me. Now if I can just figure out how to delete this thread so I don’t feel like such an ungrateful idiot, I’ll have had the perfect day!

READ 2 Posts Back JJ.

Despite what She says, She’s anything but “Crazy.”

Nicholas: DON’T Even think about deleting this Thread. If nothing else your #10 Post gave ME a Nice Warm & Fuzzy Feeling!

Very Happy that it all turned out Nicely for You & Your Family!!

With all due respect for you as well junior rock, I am a Community Manager for Escalate Media, the company that owns and runs this site. I manage 20+ communities for them. In this community it simply means that when I really like a project, for whatever reason, I get the joy of being able to add something to it. Editor’s Choice.

To be clear here, I’m not trying to stir anything up and cause trouble. Miss Walker’s profile says that she is EMC Manager. That is a fitting title I think. But editor, no. There are no editors on the site. Couldn’t be. I’ve been there and done that. I wish you luck with EMC Miss Walker and would never do anything to cause trouble for you, but please, change the name of the award. Please?

Editor in this context I would say are a few of the chosen folks who – administer, oversee, manage, have some say over the daily operations of this site. In the past probably Martin only. Now Cricket, possibly Jorge too. The only constant in the world is change.

That’s way too big of a word to be throwing around. I’m an editor. I’ve been an editor. I’ve been a news editor. I’ve been a photo editor. I’ve been a sports editor. I’ve never been an editor on an internet site and am still trying to figure out how an open forum can HAVE an editor. I GIVE UP. I respect your decision, Miss Walker.

Web editor is a pretty common term for folks who work with sites, particularly if they mess with html. I’ve edited 15 books and numerous other writings, and it doesn’t bother me.

Junior – I happen to work with some editors of scientific journals. Some of the smartest people I know. I would define their editor duties as polishing and refining the work/words of others. A different context than what goes on here certainly but I think the Editors Choice was implimented by the previous owner of this site.

Is there such a thing as an editor on an open forum such as LJ? Since you’re still going. Next time make sure you know the meaning of a word before you decide to use it in a post. I’ve seen some of your post’s, Charles. And to be honest, I want nothing to do with you.

In this community, we don’t have to like what someone says, heck, we don’t even have to like them as a person, but we will treat EVERYONE with respect here.

Juniorjock, it doesn’t much matter what the award is called, what it means is the manager of this community (and YES I do a whole lot of editing in my line of work which varies with every forum) put her stamp of approval on a project. Fussing over what this award is called only takes away from the wonderful feeling Nicholas got for receiving this award for his project. The last project you posted was 1327 days ago, is that correct?

Nicholas, I am truly sorry this debate happened in your thread.

Your project was beautiful. That is why I chose it.

No trouble at all. I feel like an idiot for having posted this thread in the first place. I should have just PM’d some friends to see if it was legitimate. Too late for that now I guess.

Not much of a debate anyway. Seems more like the ramblings of a disgruntled lumberjock with an axe to grind, and a curious fixation on a pretty common term. Most folks here are incredibly nice. Don’t pay JJ any mind at all. I’m not sure what he’s so worked up about, but he’s only embarrassing himself, not anyone else.

Nicholas,

I can see why…. it’s not only well made with some very nice details but it’s a cool story.

I just read the link about how you harvested the wood with your father in law. Maybe I’m just a sentimental dreamer, but when I read stories like this, I wish we had a button that said, Reader’s Choice.

Cricket Walker – I like your bi line…. nice to meet you.
