What county in East Central Texas are you in? We are in the North Dallas area (SE Denton County). I was trying to find some way to search for Texas LJ’s in my area and only came up with the Shops page. Thanks.

I’m in Robertson County, about 1.5 miles south of Franklin on US79. Stop by sometime!

Dallas, the pleasure was Tricia’s and mine. It was great to me you and your lovely wife. The Chinaberry and cedar you brought have amazing grain.

I hope that planer can be of use to you. I know driving all the way out here was not the best way to spend your day off, but we are glad you did.

Next time we need to hook up when it’s not so cold! :-)

It’s sleeting here now!

Hope your week is great!

Todd

Great to see LJ’ers working together to enjoy the trip of woodworking.

Todd, are you sure you don’t live in New Baden. I know, wrong side of town. I went to school in Franklin. I lived on a little farm about 10 miles out on 2446. Left to join the Navy in ‘74 and spent 22 years there. Retired at my last duty station, in Maine and stayed up there about 10 years. Started up a custom furniture business and moved it all to San Saba, TX in ‘05. I looked at buying a place back in Franklin, but the property prices have gone up considerably since ‘74, so we settled on San Saba. Closer to the wife’s folks, who are over in Kerrville. Haven’t been over to “Booger County” since about ‘85, but I’ll have to give you a shout if we’re ever over that way. Feel free to stop by if you’re ever over this way.

Awesome story. Some dudes are just built for the cold. I’m not quite manly enough yet.

I grew up in New England, went to school in Nebraska. I have not yet seen a truly cold day in Texas, even after living here for 9 years. :-)

I’ve only been on this site for 200 days, and already it’s obvious there are some great people and some amazing woodworkers here. I was happy to give Dallas a tool I no longer needed and made a great friend in the process.

Cheers to all my LJ brothers and sisters.

Tim, Todd lives farther west in the Temple area. I live in Booger County. Living in Franklin has been great, but I’ve been thinking about moving to the metropolis of Hearne and that way I can raise the median IQ of both towns! LOL

Dallas, sorry I got the names inverted. When I lived in Franklin, there wasn’t much more in Hearne, except they didn’t roll up the sidewalks at 5pm. And they had a Pizza hut. For real excitement, we had to go into Bryan/College Station. Todd, you’re welcome to come on over anytime also.

PRG Designs – I’m in SW Collin County (Fairview/Allen/Mckinney) corner. I’ve met up with 3 other LJ’s in the area over the past few years.

We are near Frisco. I was hoping to find a local network of LJ’s to compare notes on area woodworking resources, etc. I have met a few woodworkers when I was selling some excess woodworking equipment on Craigslist, but nothing like I was used to in my other previous locales. I used to cover Robertson County and Bell County in my previous occupation, but don’t make it down that way as often anymore. Is anyone going to the Woodworking Show in Houston at the end of March?

I have been disappointed in the Woodworking Show they put on in DFW. Seems like they have a lot more vendors and booths at other Woodworking Shows according to their website and other Woodworking Shows I have been to elsewhere in the country. I have always wondered what is it with DFW and a relative lack of woodworking resources?

PRG, Northwoodsman, et. al. I’m in SW part of McKinney. The only LJ i’ve met in the area is McKinneyMike at McKinney hardwoods. Good guy. I’m always up for a cup of coffee and swapping sea stories in the shop.

Tim, if I ever pull a shift out there I will. Right now I’m in Temple and Killeen only.
