Hi Jim, I doubt it’s your computer settings. Have you tried rebooting you computer and or logging out of LJ’s and logging back in. If none of that works then I would say it’s a glitch on LJ’s end. I had a problem not getting any email notifications a while a go and I had to change my email address to get thing to work again.

Maybe say sorry to Cricket and plead for forgiveness?

Don’t think it’s an issue with your computer. I’ve actually had the same thing happen before. It went away on its own after awhile if I recall. You might try, after logging in and clicking on Pulse, holding down the Control key and then press the F5 button. This is basically telling your browser to do a forced refresh of the page you’re on.

The link works for me.

Whether or not it a problem with your computer it’s a good idea to keep caches and browsing history cleaned up.

Try cleaning the browser cache and cookies, google the instructions for whatever browser you are using.

Hey Jim, anyway you could take a screenshot of the error you get and post it here? If you’re seeing something that says “application error” I have a couple of ideas but it sort of depends on what specifically you’re seeing.

Application Error Occurred
Oops! Application error occurred while processing this page. Email has been sent to us with the error report. We will try to resolve it as soon as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

This still had the LJs page around it,so I would guess its from LJs

Jim,
emptying your cache means you’ve simply forced your browser to rebuild its cache from scratch as it loads or re-loads pages. Any cache-related issues should be cleared up….. Sometimes!

If you want to give it a try Jim this will walk you through it. Not sure it this will help or not.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

.

.

.
Here you can select in the upper dropdown- “time range” menu, for which time period you want to delete the cache data. You can select between “last hour”, “last day”, “last week”, “last four weeks” or “all”.

The Cache & Cookies should already have a check mark in the box. If you see anything else you would like to dump just put a check mark in and then click “Clear Data” button near the bottom.

Have seen this error before. :-(

It took long time to heal itself. Best I could figure out is that my watch list contained a thread that had been deleted in database as it was spammers work removed by admin.
Once I had commented on enough new posts that the deleted post dropped off the watch list, watch list pulse returned like normal.

I figured this out by visiting the various pulse pages directly:
New posts only: https://www.lumberjocks.com/pulse?type=new
All Activity: https://www.lumberjocks.com/pulse?type=all
New Profiles: https://www.lumberjocks.com/pulse?type=profiles

If you can reach any of the above pulse pages, then try changing the time period used by pulse. I had it set to 30 days initially. When I set it to ‘last 24 hours’ the watch list application error disappeared. It took weeks before I could change the time period back to 30 days again.

YMMV

Captin thanks for all the help but I don’t have a clue how to do what you’re suggesting when I go to the first link and it just sends me to an LJ page no place to type anything. don’t forget the Inapt part of my title :)

You are fine, lol
Hate to anyone struggle, especially someone with your kind record supporting LJ. :-)

Question: did all of the above links fail?

Try this:
When you visit the LJ page without being logged in, and you visit the pulse page do you see this header???

The far right hand side of LJ page has pull down selector for length of time ^^^^ to display ACTIVE pulse data.
Change it to ‘in last 24 hours’ before logging in, and see if that restores your watchlist?

Will spare the details, but hopefully using shortest time period will remove the post causing your pulse to have errors. When I change mine from 30 days to 24 hours, the list changes from 4 pages to barely half a page.

Cheers!
