Stabilizing green wood

Adding a photo. The crack doesn’t show but it’s in the bottom spiral section.

Just my guess, never heard of using anti freeze to stabilize wood but guess you were okay until started carving.

Do know soaking in peg works if follow a schedule for soaking based upon size and works although steep learning curve. Have a limited type of finishes can use as contained in these instructions.

Will those finishes work as well with anti freeze? Really don’t know! Might try one and hope it seals and prevent further cracking.
