You might want to inquire at Highland Woodworking. They are always friendly and helpful. I’m sure they could point you in the right direction. I’ve never been to Atlantic Fine Woods in Decatur, but I keep meaning to go by there. It looks interesting.

There are lot of small guys throughout but Peach State Lumber will probably have the biggest selection.

I am in the Sandy Springs area of north Atlanta and I see you are in Douglasville on the east side. Lots of good lumber places in the Atlanta area depending upon what you are looking for. I don’t know what is in the Douglasville area though. Suwanee Lumber, 540 Satellite Blvd NE, Suwanee, GA 30024, on the north side is a great palce for hardwood and softwood. Randall Brothers, which has been around since the 1880s, http://www.randallbrothers.com/Pages/Lumber.htm, is also a great place. They do a lot of custom millwork. Its in the center of Atlanta where they have been for nearly 150 years. Peach State Lumber http://peachstatelumber.com/ is known to be a great source. However if you are looking for exotic wood, the best place is Atlanta Hardwood http://www.hardwoodweb.com/dryingyards/html/HWWSpeciesGuide.html. You really should visit Atlanta Hardwood just to understand all of the things they can supply. Atlanta hardwood is HUGE! But individuals are welcome. And, of course, the usual Rocker and Woodcraft stores are spotted around Atlanta. A Google search should find you something more local.

Check out The Woodyard in Concord, GA. thewoodyard.com. Rick and Nick are great to work with. On specialty items like slabs, you might want to come by and see me if you get down near Perry.
