I have been getting cheap but nice old pieces and modifying them in a remodel I am doing. (dresser, cabinet, etc)
The home is small so many standard dimensions dont work.

I am not the best carpenter. I do OK but dont know many proper techniques. For example I took a kitchen cabinet down to 8” deep and it was difficult to get a perfect clean line all the way around on the cut. By the time I get to the other side measurements don t seem to work as planned for perfect flat cut. Any special techniques to get it right?

Are you trying to free hand the cut? If so try clamping a straight.edge to guide the saw. I am assuming you are using a electric circular saw.

I was free handing with circular yes. Could try the straight edge. Also seems difficult measuring around corners
