Anything wrong with gluing up the sides of a box before routing a profile?

Not sure if you are talking just outside sides? If you are talking inside sides, you will never get a router bit completely into an inner corner. Some even like that little flat before a profile starts though. Otherwise sure you can reach any outside corner. Once finished though you really need to check for end grain, over straight so you don’t get to an end, and get blow out. -- Think safe, be safe |

I always hated not being able to get fully into inside corners until I found out about the Amana Tool MR0112 bit. |

I’m only interested in the outside profile. That’s a great thought about blowout when hitting the end grain at the end of one side. Maybe climb cut the end first? |

No need to, just do the end grain first. Then when you come across the long grain if there was any blowout you’ll chop it off. Problem comes with doing faces first, because likely you are looking at one to start, then when you wrap around to the end grain you’ll get blowout. Not always, but often enough to always ends first, then finish the fronts and backs last. You can just use a few pieces of scrap to see what I am saying. This link has some pics of what I am saying, and some other good thoughts. -- Think safe, be safe |

I guess I’m one of those who has gotten used to that little flat I mentioned. I kinda like it. That little Amana bit looks like a champ if you didn’t though. -- Think safe, be safe |

Just go ahead and build it the way you think best. The Heck with the rules and the way others do it. -- Richard (Ontario, CANADA) |

I’ve glued up 100’s of drawer boxes and then routed all the edges with a round over bit. -- Alaskan's for Global warming! |
