Is this covered in your installation instructions? Might be smart to post the brand/model of vice you are installing. There are a number of them anymore. Back when I last did one it was more about the brand, than being optional, at least that is how i remember it.

It is a Yost vise screw. I was more wondering how people attach the lower leg guide to the chop. I think I’m going to wedge the end and put 2 pins through it.

Mine’s a solid, no pivot install. Don’t think I’d want slop down there (movement of the lower guide).

Thanks for the input. I’ve never had a leg vise before so I wasn’t sure what the best route is.

Just checked Schwarz’ blue Workbenches book, he doesn’t suggest the guide is either loose or tight… I always assumed tight and made mine that way.
