The blue tape is a winner. Michael Pekovich pioneered the idea a few years ago and it works, regardless of the type of wood.

When I have problems seeing scribe lines I use raking light. Sometimes in the morning it’s very good low light
The blue tape is also a good idea

I like the yellow frog tape the best.

(PS: it’s best to clean off the tire marks first) :)
