Kiln dry it, seriously.

I live in Ottawa and a few years ago they decide it would be a good idea to just take the wood out of the city and leave it. That was a huge mistake as the ash borers just got loose in the area they thought it was quarantined in.

Small enough to dry (slowly) in your oven. Distract the spousal unit while this is in progress or tell her it’s dinner…
