Cherry Slab- Stains?

Another note- would butterflys/bowties be appropriate in this? The cracks are actually where the wood switches to end grain.

Wash it with oxalic acid. Mix about 1/4 cup oxalic acid powder in a quart of hot water and dissolve. Use a cheap chip brush to completely wet the surface. Do the entire surface, not just the dark areas. Let it dry and wash off the crystals. It might take multiple applications.

Interesting Rich and after some more reading you’re not the first to suggest this. Do you think it would take away the “rich” cherry color too though?

It shouldn’t. It’s used often in restorations to remove water stains, etc. Besides, the tung oil in the Waterlox will add depth and darken it.

That looks like it was part of a branch. I do like the way it looks but it give me a nervous feeling because of the second center. I hope its very dry.
