Let us know how they hold up. Looks like a good deal.

Only thing to look out for is to make sure they are flat before you use them, I’ve had a couple of cheaper diamond flats that were well out of flat!

I read all the reviews on cheap ones on Amazon and that was the downside to the cheap ones, getting dull really fast. That’s why I haven’t made the switch to diamond stones yet. Looking to hear back on decent price that lasts well.

Diamond stones clog up quickly when sharpening “soft” steel. Diamond is intended to sharpen really hard materials like carbide. Diamond stones don’t get dull. The metal particles from sharpening gets lodged between the diamond particles and that makes it appear to be “dull”. Try keeping the stone wet with water while sharpening.

You can find similar plates on Yahoo Japan Auctions for 2000-2500JPY. I doubt these cheapo plates will last as long as an Atoma.

OK after using the stone a bit, I will say it is still a good deal for a general, purpose stone.

That said, I can tell by feel the 1000 grit side feels much coarser than the 1250 DMT plate?

I plan to use the 400 side for water stone flattening.

I buy these. Like th two sided ones. For $3 a piece + free shipping, you can’t go wrong.
