That type of motor is what is required for lifts like the JessEm and others in its class. You don’t use the base; the motor is clamped in the lift. Very solid. If you have the funds it’s the way to go.

I am in fact looking to buy a lift plate. The most attractive option is jessem’s router lift II. Obviously because of the price – $224 with insert rings but it doesn’t say anywhere that it’ll fit the 7518, leaving me in the $300-400 range. Is there a good lift plate that’ll fit it that’s not so pricey or did I buy myself into a corner ?

Maybe others will chime in. I haven’t researched all of the choices out there. I bought the JessEm Mast-R-Lift II and have no regrets. I know the Woodpecker lift is quite popular as well.

I think most lifts will state which routers will fit but the ones that support the 7815 or any of the bigger motors will be little more money due to more heft. Also, make sure the plate will fit your current router table.

I have my 690 fixed base on a plexiglass plate for portability and adjust by twisting. It works fine….actually kinda helps for fine adjustments but the cord does get in the way.
