Not sure, but I think you could shim the wear plate at the bottom |

Thanks, Harryn. If I cannot find instructions to level the head, that solution may just be the fallback. -- Randified |

If you could locate through your local laibrary , regional library system or Ebay a textbook by Daniel W. Irwin. Power Tool Maintenance. McGraw-Hill, 1971. it would help you. Dan worked for decades with Rockwell Delta as their training director. He would offer three day seminars at select universities that offered woodworking programs. What was great is he would work with you and the attendees on fixing or tuning your lab machinery even it was another brand. Another textbook book related to woodworking machinery maintenance is by Cunningham, B. M., and Holtrop, W. F. Woodshop tool maintenance. 1956. Chas. A. Bennett Co. Again check with your library or Ebay. Since they are considered textbooks they are written for students. -- Wuddoc |

There’s also a nine part YouTube video by Ghostses, where he tears a 22-540 down to the guts and restores it with all sorts of good alignment info if you want to go that far (I’d imagine they’re similar): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2KXQmkY1Uk I did mine using those a few years back and I think it runs better than it did when I got it. |

Yeah, I watched that entire series. Very well done. My 560 head assembly is different. So, I did the gage block test and found the head roller to be in tolerance. I then checked the out feed roller and found it out of spec. I was able to adjust it and then put everything back together. All is good now. If that head roller ever gets out spec though there does not seem to be a way to adjust it. Maybe this thing will do well for a few more years now. Thanks for your comments. -- Randified |
