Yeah they tend to rather touchy about it.

LOL

This topic has popped up quite a few times, all with basically the same conclusions…
Such as here, here, and here...

I suppose this applies to NCAA teams as well, although You will see a lot of it at any craft/art event you attend.

Opps! Didn’t see Brad’s comments until after i posted.

Two of those threads go back six years and the other nine. Given that folks on here can’t read a freakin’ thread, much less what happened last week, I think reminding them every six years might be a good idea…LOL.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Quite a stretch though. Try to do better next time.

Hmm… the third thread I linked to was last posted to about 7 months ago. Doesn’t make the info contained in them any less valid though :)

Since when is 12-04-2009 at 01:31 AM seven months ago? When it comes right down to it, Brad, who gives a crap that something I brought up was discussed nine years ago, six years ago, or yesterday? Someone whose opinion means anything that is.

Here’s your chance though, big guy. 12-04-2009 wasn’t nine years ago, it was only 8 years 7 months and 9 days! Go ahead and let me have it…lol

What was your original point then, Brad? How often do we reply to which table saw to buy, which finish to use, how to accomplish this joint? Yet you go back months and years to suggest my post was redundant?

Don’t you have some global warming data to be analyzing anyway?

I think he needs to get out in the shop — if he has one — and build something, DW. He’s typical of the know-it-all types who have nothing to back up their big talk.

What was your original point then, Brad?

Simply to point to additional information that has already been posted on the subject previously. If you took it as a slam against you, then you misinterpreted the intent. They do contain some good stuff, particularly regarding the difference between trademarks, copyrights, and some personal experiences dealing with incorporating logos in projects. I’m sorry you found it less than informative, and am now sorry that I tried to contribute.

Frankly, you should be. It wasn’t even intended as a conversation starter, Brad. I happen to know someone personally who got smacked with a five-figure fine for not knowing about licensing. I thought, hey, there might be others who don’t know that as well. I offered advice as a community service, and I’m not sorry I did.

Now, get back to your psychrometric chart and let us know when we’re all going to burn up from that hockey stick effect.

With over three decades of development experience on Unix platforms (SunOS, Solaris) and just as much with X Window server variants like Motif, if anyone here holds the title of Mr. Unix, it’s me.

More of back on topic…. when we first had our kids my wife got pretty big into clothe diapers that had prints on them. A lot of them had Disney characters on them. Over time there was a few of the makers that received cease and desist letters. I never heard of any of them getting sued but that might be because they weren’t really mass producing them or making a ton of money from them. There’s a show called American Restoration that I’ve watched and the fella restores old pop machines. I remember him mentioning at one point he got one of those letters from coke telling him to stop. He ended getting a set down meeting with one of their reps and showed them what he was doing and they told him he could continue. So from all that I’d say it’s about what company your dealing with and how much money your making from it.

What I like about LJocks is the many bits of knowledge that people like to share. For me, I more often than not, learn or reinforce what is being posted. For example, this one “team logos”. The concern that is being stated, makes me reflect on a few projects that I did, in the past.

Ignorantia juris non excusat “ignorance of law excuses no one” is a legal principle holding that a person who is unaware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law merely because one was unaware of its content.

Ps
Then to add something else- public domain

this was the global hot topic of the Trademark Infringement News a few years ago . . . .
Barney the Dinosaur
so no matter what you are making as a personal home project or commercial use,
you need to do your homework prior to putting it in use outside of your home.
good topic to review, Rich.

Another person who has me blocked, but feels free to participate in my thread since I’m not petty and don’t block back. Classy. It’s the sort of person who would probably post a PM someone sent them publicly…lol
