Installing shelf on end table

dowels in the shelf rest and an over sized hole in the bottom of the shelf would allow for movement but keep the shelf from coming off the the rest is how i did mine

You could use a couple z clips on each end to hold it down. A biscuit joiner will make the grooves needed in the strechers.

Thanks guys I just went with sloppy holes and oversized the holes the screw went through allowing for lateral movement
