The left looks
Like Douglas Alder and the right looks like Alder Pine.

Yeah, the Fridge’s “Douglas Alder” = Douglas Fir

Softwood, in the Spruce/Pine/Fir category. I think Douglas Fir is a good guess.

Looks like some crappy 2nd growth stuff that I like to avoid working with.

both douglas fir. can have very wide-ranging differences in growth ring sizes.
