Welcome. There is lots of help available here from many smart people. Direct questions usually get direct answers here and pictures or sketches always help.

Welcome to LJ’s. Something to keep in mind since you mentioned being overly ambitious. ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY! I have owned my house since 94 and still have various projects I intend, one day, maybe, to get done. Enjoy the journey.

Welcome Aboard ! Yes, there is a LOT of information available here on the LJ site. That fact is a two edged sword. Please don’t get bogged down by “information overload” which can easily overwhelm a person. You already have a good basic knowledge of woodworking (which is a HUGE plus for you). OK, now start out tackling a couple of simple projects you feel comfortable doing. Nothing inspires like success. Once you’ve got a few pieces made, you’ll feel easier about taking on a few more which may be a bit involved.
I have been asked a few times “How did you know you could make that?” The answer was always “How did I know I COULDN’T, until I tried it ?”.... If you have a question or two along the way, ask the folks here on LJ, who are always glad to help. We look forward to hearing from you soon with a successful sawdust making story!

Welcome aboard, Beaufortwoods. Yes, this is a great site with lots of information. Not sure what’s your taste in furniture, but let me pass on to you a wonderful book I recommended a few days ago; Aldren Watson’s Furniture Making Plain and Simple. This book helped furnish the house when my bride and I were first married!

Have your say...
