“slight cosmetic defect” could be a cracked table or worse. That saw is in the warehouse because someone already wasn’t happy with it.

Would they be that deceptive? It says “used – very good” with only “small cosmetic imperfection” for condition…
Do they ever provide more details on the defect, perhaps including pictures upon request? Or do they expect someone to just take a blind chance spending that much money?

If it’s merely a scratch, someone’s getting a nice machine!

As an amazon warehouse deals manager would you sell someone a saw with cracked top knowing that there is zero percent chance it would not get sent back, so you would just loose money on two way shipping ? I bought quite a few refurbished and not new things and only in one or two cases the product was not actually brand new.

Some people just like to look at the negatives in life… or just make stuff up… whatever

This isn’t like buying a used saw from Craigslist. You have 30 days to return the saw for whatever reason. If there is a problem with the saw (like a cracked table) Amazon would pay the return shipping. If you were returning the saw because you just didn’t like it – then the shipping would be on you. And yes, no warranty – it is sold as ‘used’

Most of the stuff that I have bought from the warehouse is labeled ‘repackaged’ or ‘cosmetic damage’. It does not necessarily mean that someone bought it and returned it, it could have just been damaged in the warehouse.

One of their reasons for returns is “inaccurate website description”. In the case of this saw, anything other than ‘small cosmetic imperfection” (which is debatable) would be a good reason to return it and Amazon pays the shipping. Another option if you bought the saw and something else was wrong with it – open a chat with Amazon and talk about it. I have found that generally, Amazon can you 15 to 20% off the purchase price for problems

Lastly, if you look at this chart – it looks like the saw first became available around Dec 24th and the price is dropping by about $50 every week. If you’re interested, keep your eye on it

This is 50’ of 5” ‘UFD Series Urethane Abrasion Resistant Duct Hose, Wire Reinforced’.

Amazon sells it brand new for $780 (Zoro sells it for $583). I paid $77 for it and there is not a thing wrong with it (listed as package damage)

It says you an buy a 4 year “protection plan” that appears to be an extended warranty for $41. If someone os in the market this appears to be worth watching.

If it’s repackaged, probably a customer return.

I bought an expensive stock pot from Amazon marked “used-very good condition” from Amazon. When it came you couldn’t even recognize what the thing was. I will NEVER buy anything used from Amazon again…...Just sharing my experience for what it’s worth.

This isn’t like buying a used saw from Craigslist.

You are correct – I would much rather buy a used machine off CL, where I can see what I’m buying in person, rather than paying more to take a chance on a blind purchase.

Cheers,
Brad

LMAO – there is no ‘chance’

Your dealing with Amazon. If there is ANYTHING wrong with it you can return it within 30 days for a full refund and you will not be out even a penny. Shipped to your door and picked up at your door

Forget it – I am sorry I even posted this saw deal, if this was forum used different software I would just delete my post, but I can’t

DONT BUY THIS SAW – ITS A TRAP! Amazon just wants to rip you off!

FWIW – I love Amazon. (maybe because I’m from Seattle) They are easy to deal with and easy to return stuff. Never had an issue with a warehouse purchase being anything but how it was advertised. Free shipping for a 500lb item and free return shipping if it’s defective? 3HP & 50” fence?

BUY IT if it’s something you want.

Not sure how you can make that statement with a straight face. It’s a used machine, and you can’t see the actual condition, or what may or may not be wrong with it, until after you pay for it and wait for it to be delivered. To me, that is taking a chance.

Cheers,
Brad

Don’t feel bad John. I appreciate you posting stuff like this…even though I have no room to put a nice big saw for a ridiculously good price. Chance or no chance, Amazon has always treated me right. Solo mi dos pesos :-)

I do not know who should keep the face straight.
Buy it from Amazon: Uncover and see if there is an obvious damage. If so put the package on and call the delivery guy to take it back.
If everything looks good set it up an use it for 29 days. If during those 29 days you uncover a hidden defect put it back in the packaging and call the delivery guy to take it back.
Keep using the saw. If you find anything wrong with it during 4 years of extended warranty have Jet repair it for free. And as I said before none of them are actually used machines. At the most someone returned 30 days after purchase.

Buy from craigslist: Drive to multiple locations for an extended period of time only to discover that you are dealing far not with Amazon customer support. Finally after spending n hours and k gallons driving empty handed you find that the saw actually comes with a motor and you decide to take the deal. Once the money migrate to the seller’s pocket you will not see it again even if the saw falls apart right on the seller’s driveway.

Craigslist here is a waste of time unless you have a lot of time to waste.

AWD are not just customer returns. It can be closeouts, damaged packaging.

My Amazon experiences have been positive, even when mistakes were made, they were fixed lickity split. Newegg was the first to make online buying easy and Amazon has improved on that. I have gotten bad or wrong items from the warehouse but a quick chat with Amazon and they made it right. One thing I will say, for a few months after xmas, warehouse stuff can be hit or miss because of all the scammers who buy things and then return something old and broken in it’s place.

Forget it – I am sorry I even posted this saw deal, ...
- John_H

John, you are welcome to post in the Hot Deals thread. Lots of people there who appreciate it.

So I checked in and the Warehouse Deals saw looks to be gone.

Maybe someone here will chime in with a new saw gloat.

I’m actually in the market for a new saw and had actually gotten approval from the CMO (Chief Marital Officer) to buy it, but I wanted to wait for something closer to $1600.

For me in Texas, it was $1811 plus $150 in taxes, so I would have been into the Amazon one for $1960. Given that a new one is $2500 and 15% sales for Jet isn’t that uncommon, I was thinking of it as a comparison against a $2125 new purchase (if I’m patient enough to wait for the good sale).

For a couple hundred difference I would probably go new, but if it would have gotten to $1600 + $130 tax for $1750 I would have been all over it.

The thing with Amazon Warehouse – is you know the price is going to drop on a regular basis, but if you take a chance and wait, you may end up missing out on some really good deals.

When I look at the price history for that saw, the Warehouse had another one for sale back in April. It started out at $2,449 and it looks like someone bought it for $2,003.

$1,811 was a pretty decent price but if you found anything wrong with outside of the initial description you could walk away clean or talk with them to get an extra 15% – to 20% knocked off
