Without knowing which model DeWalt sander or the size of your shop-vac hose, it may be a difficult question to answer.

I can tell you that I have a Rigid sheet sander that fits a standard 2 1/2” shop-vac hose and works wonders at virtually eliminating dust.

I did, by accident, discover that a fitting that’s included with the Hyde drywall sander fit on my Ryobi Corner Cat sander dust port perfectly. The hyde sander is a $20 dollar gizmo that is actually a great tool in and of itself, but may help solve the issue you’re having with the DeWalt.

The inner pipe is 1” outside diameter and inside is around 13/16”. The second valve that covers over that is 1 1/2” outside diameter and inside is around 1 5/16”.

I used the rockler small hose kit. I had to make the interior ring of the sander a bit bigger so I used electrical tape. Pair it with mirka abranet and you are in business

That seems like an idea to try out. Never thought of that!
