I purchased a Grizzly G1012 Bandsaw off of craigslist a while back that had a small blade on it. I am wanting to cut curves such as those on a gun rack and also do some resawing. I think 1/4 blade would be good for curves or would a 3/8 be better I just can't picture in my head the difference of radius each blade would make. I have never really used a bandsaw prior to this one. This saw's manual says it would handle a 3/4 blade (it says it would handle one over 1") but didn't know if that would be overkill or not. So would a 1/2 or 5/8 blade be fine for resawing. This bandsaw has a 2hp motor. Thanks for any help.
I am going to give the diamond bandsaw blades a shot because of the price and the reviews I have read on here and other sites. Also, I figured I would give the thicker blades a try, they are .032 compared to the normal .025.
I have that saw, and like 3/4" blades for resawing. Currently have a Timberwolf on it, which I like quite a bit. Be sure to buy good quality blades (read reviews), as crappy blades will be very disappointing.
If yours is the same saw (2 part cast iron frame?) it has 10" resaw capacity. For now, this is good enough for me, but I have thought of making a 2" high riser block for it. Shouldn't be too difficult.
I just ordered the 1/4" 4 tpi from Hal Taylor site. I would say I would give a review of it, but I don't have anything to compare it with. Anything will cut better then what I had before. Thanks for all the comments, I am going to wait and check this one out and then buy a resaw blade, I think I will give the 3/4 one a try since runswithscissors has the same saw and likes it. I don't know if I can get it dialed in perfect, so I figure a wider blade will help me in the beginning. Thanks everyone.
I got a Grizzly G0513 off of craigslist. It came with a 1" blade. Works well on resawing. Just ordered a timber wolf 1/4 4 tpi to do some band saw boxes.
The shipping was great. The blade was at my house 3 days after I ordered it. It cuts good to me, but I have nothing else to compare it with. Anything was better than what I had.
