Many folks won’t take urban yard trees (nails, barbed wire, bullets). Check the log good, but pay for the blade. $20-$50.

TAKE THE BIGGEST CUTS FOR TURNING. Cut remainder of bole 5/4 Through and through. Try to save the crotches, crooks and branches for treen ware and in the round carving. Cover all cut surfaces with Anchorseal. A second coat will be needed. I don’t recommend K/D, others have said here that KD MAKES iT HARD TO use when dry.

I have other mini-rambles about selecting and using wood for carving, food service use, and replanting (‘when I take trees always bring a kid along, offer some trees to plant,) Be ready to be pleasantly surprised. Woods Guys are topshelf.

Good Luck Steve.
