White oak will last a long time. There is a 6” round white oak log cut into 12” pieces laying in the woods behind our house. It is left from when we cleared our lot to build our house. That was back in 1987. I also have a piece of white oak door sill on our garage loft door that has been there for 25 years. Other than a little discoloration, it is as solid as the day it was put in.
