This is usually done with cyclone so that only the fines are blown to the wind. But it will work with a single stage as well, you just may have a little more debris outside than you though. Consider a few things: if you shop has conditioned air, it will be blown outside as well. It will increase your CFM’s, maybe to the point of motor overload. Best to check the amp draw and compare it to the motor plate. Oh, I doubt the box of some sort will have much in it, but you can try.
