I would echo exactly what Mark said. I bought a polar bear series jointer and the paint was awful on it. It was flaking off in large dollar bill sized chunks right out of the box. I looked at the manual and it shows that it was supposed to be a powder coated machine, but obviously was painted, much like Mark noted. I asked Grizzly about it, and they said it must have been a mistake in the manual that would need to be updated/corrected, I dont know if that have or not.

I ended up sending that machine back for various other issues as well and went w/ the standard series jointer and have been very pleased.
