I appreciate all the help, suggestions and references so far. If I had a little more time to devote to the tools I would entertain the idea of cleaning and restoring planes myself, but I’d rather devote the limited time I do have to building projects.

I’ve only been reading and researching Stanleys, so while I’m sure there is a lot of good information out there about older Millers Falls, Sargents and Unions and they’re all similar in a practical working way, I just know a little more about Stanleys and decided to head in that direction.

For reference I think I’ve narrowed my initial list down to:
No. 5 Jack
No. 7 Jointer
No. 18 Standard Angle and/or No. 60 Low Angle

Of course that is just for starters!
