Hey everyone…..Merry Christmas!
Last weekend, my wife, Lynn and I were invited to join our little 8 yr. old friend, William and his parents to see the Train displays at the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, Il.
They have huge tropical green houses inside, massive architectural structures that were brought there from other countries and re assembled in to the unbelievable paradise like landscape. Please Google it. I can't do it justice with these lousy phone camera pictures - I forgot my good camera! GRR!
But the Christmas train display was really neat - they built miniature replicas of all of the famous buildings from Chicago out of natural materials like birch bark, twigs and tons of miniature fern like plants.
Check it out.
The Bahia Temple
Shedd Aquarium
Water Tower
Frank Lloyd Wright House
wooden span bridges above Christmas carolers under falling man made snow.
Soldier Field - Go Bears!.... 1st. place!
Navy Pier Ferris Wheel
Museum of Science and Industry
As we walked around, I kept thinking how fun it would be to work with the guys building the bridges or one of the Houses…. at least let me work with the landscaping and plants!
I've never owned a train track but I've always had a soft spot for them, especially the miniature landscape scenes.
the John Hancock - Hey, I remodeled a couple of Kitchens in that building!
they even had the Baboon sculpture by Picasso!
Chicago style Bungalows
..... and the Bean!
Lots more pictures but I don't want to be a spoiler.
If you live nearby, I recommend seeing it.
We wish all of you at Lumberjocks the very best this next year.
Peace
