I’m not a computer expert, but I cant understand why the spammers cant be blocked from signing up. I am on other web sites just a large and maybe larger than this one and we don’t have any spammers signing in as new members. What are they doing? I agree with rrww that for now maybe each new member sign up should be approved by someone. If you eliminate all the spam, there aren’t really that many to approve. I think at least 80% of new sign ups now are spam or bots. I would be concerned as a site manager that people that are new will see all the spam in the new sign-ups and drop off thinking the site is out of control and full of viruses. It doesn’t do any good to delete or remove them after they are signed up….they have to be blocked from signing up. I cant imagine that a system to block the spam can be that difficult to implement. Check with other sites and see what they are doing.
