I would think for the time being stopping automatic new membership and manually approving new members is the way to go. It seems it would at least stop the problem until a automated solution is found. To me letting it continue until a solution is found is like adding fuel to the fire. If it were me I would want to protect the valuable members that make money for this site. If this continues I’m sure active members will drop off, and its all about the traffic. The last thing anyone wants to deal with on the net is spam of any kind. Spammers are a bright bunch, they will never stop as long as they are making money at it, all we can do is try to manage it.

Hopefully this issue is being taken serious as it is, it seems management (upper) likes to “let it ride” with some issues. I typically only see one active moderator (I’m not on here a ton – correct me if I’m wrong). That is simply amazing for a site this size. Its just too bad that we, as the members (the ones that make this site $$) are the ones that loose. I wish them the best of luck, they may need it.
