I look at my raised panel bit and I would be afraid to use it if it only had a 1/4” shank. I mean we are talking about a 3 1/4” diameter hunk of heavy tungsten spinning at thousands of RPMs. This thing intimidates me now, I can only imagine how I would feel if I had to look at that giant head on a puny little shank! Seriously, this is the kind of bit that 1/2” routers were invented for – even if you could find a 1?4” bit I would advise you not to buy it. IMO
