Your post is very timely. I just struggled through the same process while restoring an old oak secretary. From your picture, It looks about right. But, I assume from your question, something isn’t working properly. The end pivot points need to be equidistant from the hinge axis. That distance will depend on the angle you want the lid to be when open. Just make sure that the distance is the same both ways. Also, you may have to adjust for offsets at each end based on the shape and size of the mounting brackets. It may be easiest to draw yourself a precise diagram. It also may help to make a model with a couple of scrap pieces hinged together to test your measurements before drilling into your box and lid.
I worked mine out with simple geometry on paper. I can explain that if you need me to but it will take a lengthy explanation. Someone else may be able to do it mathematically.
