I would look at DeWalt, Oliver, and Laguna. I have a DeWalt 735 with straight knives. If I had it to do over I would get a planer with helical heads. The Dewalt knives dull quickly and investing in carbide tipped knives doesn’t make economic sense for what I do. Replacing the cutter head on my 735 doesn’t make economic sense either.
