John. the WEN Scroll saw is great for the price. I have used the hell out of it for nearly 3 years. Its got a little vibration. Now the bearing are wearing out and the top arm is listing to port to the point of making contact with the out side arm sleeve. The up and down stroke moves side to side maybe a 16th of an inch. So if you have a piece of wood in it and let go of it it would vibrate side to side with the blade. I have taken it down 2 times and maintained greased it up the bearing are Brass Bushings and its just tired I plan on keeping it as a dedicated strip sander. If you are hesitating on getting one PLEASE get one for the moeny cant be beat.

But I really need a new one and want to upgrade.

Steve – just out of curiosity, could you expand a little on the WEN saw ?
I have a couple of WEN drills that are well over 40 years old and are still good.
and I ve purchased a few newer WEN power tools recently and am very satisfied with them too.
so I was wondering about the history of this one – how it was used, how often, and the age of it.
many beginners are turning towards the WEN scroll saw your input may help with decision making.
